Walk into your SQE with a clear head. That is the whole goal this week. If you are sitting FLK 1 or FLK 2 in the coming days, this issue is for you.

## 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 key

Nerves are unreliable narrators. The week of an exam they will tell you that you know nothing and that everyone else is more prepared. That is a feeling, not a fact. The facts are the months of revision, the practice questions answered when you would rather have been anywhere else, and the mock scores that stung but taught you something. [Confidence comes from doing](https://www.pradipkhakhar.com/why-sqe-confidence-comes-from-doing/), and you have already done the work. Every timed question you attempted was a small act of proof. That proof walks into the exam room with you whether your nerves cooperate or not.

## 𝐖𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞

Do not try to learn anything new this week. Skim your summary notes, remember that Professional Conduct and Ethics appears in both FLK 1 and FLK 2, and stop studying by 9pm. Then handle the boring things that quietly protect your score. Photo ID and confirmation email ready. Route to the test centre planned, with a backup. Clothes set out in layers, because testing rooms run hot and cold. Alarm set, with a second one behind it. Then sleep. A rested brain retrieving what it knows will beat a tired one chasing perfection. The full [night before checklist](https://www.pradipkhakhar.com/sqe-1-night-before-success-checklist/) is one page and printable.

## 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐦 𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐦

Read every question carefully and watch for words like not, only, and always. Pick the single best answer based on the facts in front of you, not assumptions. And remember that the SRA confirms [there is no negative marking](https://sqe.sra.org.uk/sqe-results/results-resits/sqe1-results?ref=pradipkhakhar.com) on SQE 1, so answer every single question. A guess can only help you.

When you hit a brutal stretch of questions, and you will, keep moving. A hard run tells you nothing about your result, because those questions are hard for the whole cohort.

Guard your break. You get a full hour between sessions. Do not compare answers with other candidates and do not look anything up. Nothing said in that hallway can raise your score, but it can rattle your second session. Eat something, stretch, and head back early for the ID checks. For the full walkthrough of the day, from lockers to start screen, read [what to expect on SQE 1 exam day](https://www.pradipkhakhar.com/what-to-expect-sqe-1-exam-day/).

## 𝐈𝐟 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐠𝐨𝐞𝐬 𝐰𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲

Technical failures and delays have happened at test centres before, and the SRA now has a formal process for [exam day disruptions](https://www.pradipkhakhar.com/sqe-exam-day-disruptions/). If your sitting is disrupted, you will usually be rescheduled within the same assessment window, and if that is not possible your attempt is discounted and your fee refunded. A disruption is not your fault and it does not burn one of your attempts. Take a breath and follow the instructions in the room.

## 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠

When you finish, resist the urge to check your answers against the textbook. The exam is done and the second guessing only steals your recovery. You did not get this far by accident. Walk in, trust your preparation, and show the paper what months of quiet work looks like.

I am rooting for every one of you this week. Hit reply after your first day and tell me how it went. I read every message.
